Georgetown is the county seat of Williamson County, Texas. In 2007 Williamson County was the second fastest growing county in Texas and the fourteenth fastest growing county in America. Similar results for 2008 are expected to be released later this year. Georgetown is a lovely community which combines beautiful historic buildings including the recently completed renovation of the Williamson County Courthouse and Square, modern shopping, recreational and medical facilities and lush, green open spaces and scenic hill country views. In 2007, Georgetown was rated the Number 1 Place to Retire in America by Retirement Places magazine and U.S. News and World Report.
